What I did a “year” after my 10-year relationship ended (Part 2 Travel Guide to Iloilo City)

Iibahin ko na ang lugar ng pag momove-on, hindi na talaga sa Sagada, sa Iloilo talaga mga besh! haha!

So if you haven’t read my first blog, pls do so 😅 This is sort of the 2nd part of it. ✌🏻

What I did after my 10-year relationship ended (A travel guide to Iloilo)

I did not plan this. When I booked my ticket to Iloilo it was because of the upcoming wedding of my friend’s sister. I didn’t realize I was also here almost a year ago, doing my first solo travel and trying to move on from my first heartbreak. lol.

Ang bilis pala talaga ng panahon. Isang taon na pala. Akalain mo yun?

Going back to my travel, our first day is spent entirely on the wedding preparation.

📍Final fitting of bridesmaid dress

📍Last minute party needs for the event

📍Settling in the hotel in preparation of the big day

You know how I realized I was okay?

I was looking at the bride with a joyful heart and then I said to myself, someday, I’m gonna marry a man who will love me wholeheartedly and unconditionally.

AND I did not think of him.

ACCEPTANCE. Accepting that he will no longer will be in my future. Accepting that he chose a path different from what we both dreamed of. Accepting that we simply are not just meant for each other.

After 1 year nasa acceptance na ako. HAHAHA! Well, what can I say? It’s a process. You cannot cheat your way to it.

And then I also realized I wasn’t the same person anymore. I’ve grown. I’ve become stronger.

Sabe nga ni Laida Magtalas, “Version 2.0 STRONGER, BOLDER, FIERCER.” (Portrayed by Sarah G) 😂

THE BIG DAY

Best wishes ate Cherry and kuya Perfecto! ❤️

Third day in Iloilo

We went to Gigantes Island together with ate Cherry’s friends and colleagues. Since some will be coming from Iloilo City, we opted to rent a Van and they picked us up along the way (Btw, I am staying at my friend’s house).

From Estancia port we hired a pump boat to take us around Gigantes Island. You have 2 options in doing a Gigantes Island tour, you may opt for a joiners tour or rent a pump boat. Since we are a group of 13 adults and 2 kids we decided to rent a pump boat for Php 6,000.

Usual joiners rate is Php 999 inclusive of food.

Even though it’s my second time in the island, I am still in awe of its beauty. Check out some of my photos below:

Tangke Lagoon

Cabugao Gamay Island
Rock formations at Pulupundan Islet

I have lots of memories here. From telling a group of strangers what I was going through to just plainly looking afar thinking, “what if inayos ko? edi dalawa sana kame ngayon dito.”

I am glad I came back. This time I am healed. I am genuinely happy. And whatever worries and what ifs I had, I buried it in the sand and let the ocean take it away.

Fourth Day

This is the first time I traveled without any itinerary prepared 😂 So my apologies if this blog isn’t as informative as my other blogs.

Our next destination is Garin Farm. I really really wanted to go here specially with all the pictures I’ve seen on the internet.

Garin Farm is mainly popular due to its tourist attraction called, Heaven on Earth. But did you know they also feature agriculture and houses various livestock? They also offer leisure activities such as swimming, zip line, horseback riding and boating.

How to go to Garin Farm?

Ride a jeep (Php 100) going to San Joaquin at Molo Terminal and tell the driver to drop you off at the way to Garin Farm. From there, rent a tricycle or a habal habal to take you to the entrance of Garin Farm for Php 10 each. Travel time is about 1hr to 1.5hrs.

Price list as of June 2019

Awra muna before starting the 456 steps 😅

I pray for peace of mind. I pray for guidance. Above all, I pray that my soul be filled with love.

Fifth Day

Second to the last day! Arrrghh.

I joined my friend’s family outing. haha. We went to Concepcion island together with their relatives.

I think it is one of the most underrated tourist attraction in Iloilo. It features a white sand and a sand bar during low tide.

We rent a kubo (Php 200) where we can put our things and a griller.

How to go to Concepcion Island?

We rented a jeep going to Concepcion. From the port, we rented a pump boat to take us to Concepcion Island.

If you are taking public utility, you may ride bus going to Concepcion in Tagbak Terminal in Jaro Iloilo. Travel time is between 2.5hrs – 3hrs.

If you are looking for a nice place to just chill and relax with family and friends, this is a nice place to go to.

I heard you can also do some Island Hopping for Php 1.5k per boat. However, we just wanted to enjoy the view and rest our tired feet.

Sixth Day

Last day in Iloilo City.

Since my flight is still at 8pm in the evening I took the opportunity to roam around the City. I did not get much chance to do this a year ago. Here are some of the places I visited.

1. Mrs Wharton – located in SM Iloilo

If you’re craving for delicious treats, this is a go to place! yey!

2. Iloilo National Museum

3. Jaro Cathedral

So that’s it guys! I hope you enjoy this hugot/travel blog ko.

If there is anything I can advice to those who are going through a heartbreak right now, that is to continue to pray and ask God for guidance. Allow yourself to heal. HUWAG MAGMADALI. Entering into another relationship will not heal you from the scar that the previous relationship gave you.

Slowly but surely tayo mga bes 🙂

It is so good to feel love and to give love but it is so much better when we are with the right person.

Thank you for reading 🙂

6 months post break-up (things I did to help me move forward)

How can you possibly forget someone you’ve been with for almost 11 years of your life?

There are a lot of questions on my mind during our 1st month of break up.

Why did he do it?

Was it my fault?

Was I not a good partner?

I was still in denial that time. I thought we can still work things out and that we can save whatever we have. After all, we’ve been together for 10.5 years right? He must’ve love me, or so I thought.

Days passed. No phone calls. No messages.

That’s when realization starts to hit me, maybe he really wants to get out of this relationship. It was over.

It was a difficult process. Moving on and trying to start your life over again. I felt lost.

But hey, life is not over. And we always have to keep moving forward.

Here are the things I made within the past 6 months trying to cope up with the change:

1) Find a new hobby.

I think it is very important to find new hobbies that will make you busy and get you to know more about yourself.

As for me, the first thing I did was circuit training. I enrolled in Pound for Pound together with my friend. Until now, I still do it. It keeps my mind busy and preoccupied. Plus, I feel confident about myself and I think that is very important.

Next, TRAVEEEEEEL. I really enjoy travelling. I am not a frequent traveler but when I have the chance I go for it. I usually book my tickets during piso fare deals. If you had read my previous blogs, the first destination I went to after our break-up was in IloIlo City.

Travelling makes my soul happy.

2) Spend time with your friends and family.

This helped me a lot. During the first few months of our break-up, I always spend my free time with my friends. We stay at this local tea house near our subdivision. Or sometimes we eat at a korean bbq (samgyupsal). That’s our favorite! lol.

I really think that you should have your core group. Your set of friends where you can tell anything you want to and they will always understand even if you keep on ranting the same thing everyday. lol!

I also started engaging a lot with other family members (such as titas and titos). We have this group chat in messenger and that is also where I told them what happened with our relationship.

3) Try not to be bitter about your ex.

Oops! This one is really hard. But I am doing this for myself and not for him.

We had our happy times. It wasn’t a toxic kind of relationship. It’s just things changed, we didn’t realize that we have grown apart. I also had to understand, that I too have shortcomings. I shouldn’t put all the blame on him.

4) Treat yourself!

Eat at a restaurant!

Go to that spa!

Buy that dress!

As for me, I really enjoy going to the nail and spa center. I always have my GEL NAILS done. I really love it because it stays long  on your nails without chipping. Gel Nails are a must!

However, it is quite costly, cheapest price is P 400 and will last for about 3 – 4 weeks. That’s why now, that I feel much better I use regular nail polish again. (Minimum wage earner alert! haha)

5) Spend ME time

It is good that I get to spend some quality “ME TIME.”

When I want to have quality time alone, I go to the mall, window shop or go and see a movie.

I usually stay at my favorite local tea house near our subdivision (kapetearya) whenever I want a quiet time alone. Drinking my favorite yakult tea (passion fruit tea) and just browsing through my social media apps.

I learned to take it slow and just to go with the flow. I cry when I feel like it. I message him once in a while before just so I could pour all that emotions within me. And little by little, I felt okay. I can’t say that I have really moved on now and that I am a 100% okay. But I know that I will be. I am still trying to fix myself and bring back the confidence I lost. And I must say, I think I’m doing a pretty good job!

Welcome to the Santorini of the South – A La Bella Travel Guide

La Bella is situated at Barangay Neogan, Tagaytay City. It is a Santorini inspired community. It has a hotel for tourist and a condominium built for its residence.

Thanks to Airbnb La bella has been more accessible for tourists.

We booked our room using Airbnb for P 2,500 hosted by Yasmin (La Bella Hotel & Residences). We were assisted by Nanay Salve, who works as a caretaker of the property. She was very nice and attends well to our request.

These are other things you have to note if you want to do staycation in La Bella:

1) Ask and confirm the host if the condominium has parking space.

We were not able to confirm about the parking space, hence, upon arrival at the main gate, we were told by the guard that there is a parking fee of P 300 for an overnight stay.

2) If you are planning to go there by public transportation, you may opt to rent a tricycle located at the main road.

3) Note that access to the swimming pool has a fee of P 100 per pax.

We thought that the swimming pool was free of charge since our prior experience in staycation was inclusive of the use of the pool area. We went directly to the pool and started to swim when an attendant suddenly approached us to inform that we should pay first at the hotel lobby.

4) It is situated at the inner part of Tagaytay.

Good thing we already bought food with us for an overnight stay. It is about 10-minute drive from the main highway and the roads getting there is quite steep. If you want to maximize your stay, I suggest you buy food before coming to the property.

La Bella is a very good place to relax. The interiors of the buildings as well as the landscape are very picturesque. Aside from the pool, they also have cafe and library which opens at 9 AM and closes at 8 PM.

Let me share with you our picture during our stay:

What I did after my 10-year relationship ended (A travel guide to Iloilo)

“Anong nangyari?”

“Ang tagal niyo na ah. Baka kaya pang ayusin.”

“Bakiiiiiit?”

So I decided to pack my bags and head on to the most liberating (yet!) experience of my life.

Let me share with you my journey as I fix myself.

A guide to Carles,Iloilo – Guimaras – Iloilo City Travel.

How to get there?

From Manila, you can book a ticket either to Iloilo International Airport or Roxas Airport. The best and nearest airport to Carles, Iloilo would be in Roxas, as this will only take you 2 hours to travel.

From Roxas Airport, take a tricycle going to El Pueblo Van/Bus Terminal. From there, ride a van going to Estancia and alight at Balasan Junction. Travel time is around 1.5 to 2 hrs. From Balasan, take a tricycle going to Bancal Port.

Summary of Transportation Expenses

  • Tricycle to El Pueblo Van/Bus Terminal – P 150
  • Van going to Estancia – P 75
  • Tricycle to Bancal Port/Solina – P 150

1st Day Itinerary

I arrived at the Roxas Airport at around 6:30 AM and went straight to my first destination which is Solina Beach & Nature Resort. I booked my room using booking.com for P 3,375.16 (with vat). Since I paid in advance using my CC, I got a discount of P 125.01.

Since this is my first solo travel, I decided to check in and relax in a resort and just enjoy the nature. Solina is one of the high-end resorts in Carles. The staffs are very friendly and accommodating.

I arrived at Solina a little early than my supposed to be check-in time. Since the room is still occupied, I opted to eat at their breakfast buffet for P 350 pesos (free breakfast is served the next morning). They offer classic breakfast such as fried rice, eggs, hotdog, tocino, waffles, and cereals. I was a bit disappointed though that they don’t serve green tea, however, it did not made my experience any less. So still, TWO THUMBS UP!

After breakfast, I left my luggage at the front desk and decided to take a dip (and photo shoot. lol!) at the swimming pool. Since it is still early morning, I have the pool all by myself. yey! UNLIMITED PICTURREEEESSS HERE I COME!

Here are some of the pool side shots:

Here comes my selfies! lol.

my IDGAF look. haha! ravaaan!

I was not able to take a picture of my room. But I have a room video, wherein I showed the whole room. If you guys wanna check it out, i uploaded it on my instagram, @razemacalinga. It’s included in my highlights, under “Iloilo 2018.” Also, that’s where I uploaded my other pictures from the trip.

I took this trip exactly a month after our breakup. I actually felt good. It’s like, I proved to myself that I can do things and that I CAN STILL DO A LOT OF THINGS. If there is one thing that I can advice to all those who are going through a breakup, I think that you should explore and find a hobby or engage in an activity that will help you know more about yourself.

Lesson learned: BES! LUMABAS KA! HINDI PA KATAPUSAN NG MUNDO!

Okay, so back to my travel. haha.

I also went to other side, which is the beach part. It was okay, but honestly, I enjoyed the pool better. Here’s some of the picture I took on the beach side.

And since, I wanted to treat myself for doing a good job and being brave despite of what happened, I had my dinner at the pool side. (I swear, I was broke af right after this trip! lol. but it was worth it).

2nd Day Itinerary

I got up early to do some final photo shoot at the balcony of my room.

Bes, I’m telling you, 100 times ko ata shinoot yan bago ko nakuha ung gusto kong angle. lol! laban lang! never say die! PARA SA IG FEEDS! haha.

I checked out at exactly 9am and head on to my next adventure, GIGANTES ISLAND!!! This has been on my list of travels, and I was so excited to go there. I rode a tricycle from the resort to bancal port for P 150.

I booked a 2-day trip under Gigantes Island Tours and Services for 1,499 inclusive of food and accomodation. Guys, beware sa pag bobook ng tour, I heard from one of the joiners that they were scammed before. I suggest you legit check first the agency before paying anything.

At around 10am, the boat left the bancal port and we started our 1st day Island hopping. Yey! Here are some of the photos I took.

At around 6pm, we head back to the accomodation and to recharge for the second day activity.

Wait wait wait. There’s more!

BES UGALIIN MAG BASA NG ITINERARY HA? lol.

Our second day activity was spelunking. I had no idea, since I just booked that travel thinking that it was all island hopping. Thank God, I met wonderful people along the way. Shoutout sainyo! I was invited to do Guimaras Travel instead.

3rd Day Itinerary

We rode a van at around 10am at bancal port and head on to Iloilo City where we will ride a boat (Ortiz Wharf) going to guimaras. The fare is only P14.

We arrived at Jordan Wharf around 2pm and we started our city tour right away. The usual price for city tour is P1,500 but since we rented two tricycle, we got it for 1,200 for a maximum of 4 pax. Here’s our picture of our Guimaras Tour.

We head back to Iloilo City after the city tour and checked in at Ong Bun Pension House for P1,200 good for 4 pax. It has 3 beds and a private bathroom inside. It also has a flat screen TV with cable and a cabinet for your belongings.

We decided to head out at 9PM to eat Batchoy at Netongs. We initially went to the public market, however, it was already closed. We were advised by the staffs that the Netongs in Atria closes at 10pm. We hurriedly went and rode a cab to Atria and luckily, we were able to eat some batchoy. Yum! We ordered Extra Special for P 110.

This is actually the best part of my trip. I met and gained new set of friends!

4th Day Itinerary

Flong, Bhym and Bibi will be heading back home and I stayed in Iloilo City to do some City Tour.

I started my city tour and first went to Molo Church and Molo Mansion. And since I was tired from all the walking, I rode a taxi. (Bes huwag tularan kung nag titipid. 100+ ata binayaran ko, e 8 pesos lang yung jeep! lol)

Molo Soup for P50

I cut short my trip, since I know that I will be back this June 2019 in Iloilo. Instead, I went to Merczi, which is only a few steps from Ong Bun. I bought some pasalubong (Piaya and Napoloenes).

I decided to go back to Roxas City early and rest. I will be flying back to Manila at 4am the following day.

I rode a bus from Tagbak terminal to Roxas City. Then I rode a tricycle from the Roxas Terminal to the hotel. Travel time is about 4 hours.

What I noticed is that the tricycle is a bit expensive so travelling in groups might be an advantage. The minimum price that I paid was P150.

That’s all guys! Thanks for reading my Travel Blog!
